Distribute your film, documentary, webisodes, and other productions through Cinestream and get paid for it.
Our team converts your broadcast or DVD quality production to a file of equal quality that can be shared among users around the internet, allowing for a wide spread and therefore large audience.
Unlike bootleg or pirated copies in circulation, we release your production with sponsorship from major advertisers and return the majority of proceeds to you and the production's creative team.
We handle the tech support, bandwidth, promotion, and sponsors - leaving you free to sit back and cash the cheques.
By releasing a high-res, licensed copy through us, free to the viewing audience, you not only ensure that you're paid for internet distribution of your property, but you help reduce or eliminate pirated copies.
For information on distributing your short, documentary, feature film, or TV show through Cinestream and receiving pay for a New Media Broadcast & Distribution License, email us at info@cinestream.ca.

Guidelines
Selection of work for the CineStream collection is based on the strength and originality of the work as it relates to our guidelines.
We seek exceptional works in all formats and styles, including feature length and short films and documentaries, and TV series.
Our primary objectives in distribution are:
- To provide our members with DVD or broadcast quality downloads
- To remove the incentive for film piracy by offering works as free downloads for our members, while providing compensation to the creators of the work through sponsorship dollars
- To feature short films and documentaries by, and broaden audiences for, up-and-coming film makers
Works are reviewed and chosen by our Acquisitions Committee through a collective process.
Approximately 15-20 new films are acquired for distribution each year. A
pplications and DVDs are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
The review and selection process generally takes 2-6 weeks.
We generally do not distribute:
- works of low quality, e.g. poor picture or sound quality
- films which are under 5 minutes
Low Budget Indies and Shorts
While these films tend to have a far smaller audience, and thus don't attract as much attention from our sponsors, we're proud to present them! After all, talent can only be discovered if it's displayed.
If you have a new film that needs exposure, a short that has already shown on the festival circuit, or a cinematic "masterpiece" collecting dust on a shelf, send us your work and we'll proudly add it**
to our catalogue of released titles!
Write to us for more info.
Checklist
To have your film considered for release through Cinestream, we strongly recommend you have the following:
- A detailed synopsis - this lets people know the general theme and plot of your movie, increasing their interest.
- One-sheet / Poster promotional artwork - a 350 pixel high by 250 pixel wide 'movie poster' that sums up your film in one compelling image (we prefer .jpg format)
- Clearance - Whether a distributor, studio, or the creator of the film you should own all new media rights to the work including music rights to the soundtrack, any stock footage or other footage used (e.g. a program playing on TV in a scene), etc.
- Accepted Accounting Practices - If you qualify for our sponsor-pay license program*, and your production was a union shoot or you're otherwise committed to paying actors, writers, or other creative talent a portion of New Media revenues, be aware that we have minimum rates allocated to such payouts that you must meet or exceed.
Because productions and their royalty agreements often vary, we'll work with you to ensure everyone receives their fair compensation.

Cinestream collects sponsor's payments from sponsors or their agents on a per-title bases.
We pass along the majority of the sponsor's payment to "Producer" of the work sponsored for the exclusive right to distribute the work via the internet, retaining a percentage as our fee.
While Cinestream offers great exposure for your work, at this time short films do not qualify for our sponsor-pay license program.
We're working on changing that!

All submissions are screened to ensure they meet or exceed our minimum standards of film making quality, including but not limited to sound and picture quality, no extremely offensive or unreasonably inappropriate content etc.
We don't judge based on artistic merit, and sometimes disturbing stuff can be pretty cool.
But no porn, scatology, etc. mmmkay?
